About this event

Who:

This workshop is for Parent Carers who have a child with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who is moving to secondary school in September 2024.

The workshop will be delivered by a Parent Carer Trainer who has lived experience of this life stage and pathway.

What:

A One Page Profile is a short document, unique to each child. It gives new staff a quick insight into what really matters to the child and helps build relationships that make the change successful.

During the workshop you will:-

· Create a one-page profile for your child.

· Learn some of the person centred thinking tools that will help you to adapt the One Page Profile as your child learns and grows.

Discover new ways to describe your child’s personality, interests and support needs.

Where:

Unique Ways

Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre, Hanson Lane

Halifax, HX1 5PG

When:

Thursday 13th June 2024. – 10.00 until 2.30.

Why

A One Page Profile works alongside the EHCP but is quickly and easily adaptable for different situations. It is a child and family led resource that is invaluable in many different settings.

It’s a way of celebrating the child’s humanity and strengths. A One Page Profile is a helpful and positive way to introduce your child to staff at the new school and to ease the transition for everyone.

What you need to bring:

· A laptop if you have one. This enables you to adapt the One Page Profile easily when your child changes. You can work on paper though so don’t worry if you can’t bring a laptop.

A passport sized photo of your young person (who the one-page profile is for).

Anything else you need to know:

· Lunch will be provided.

This workshop will have a maximum of 10 Parent Carers.

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Unique Ways is a small charity and our programme of training courses which we provide free of charge to parent carers have a significant cost to us. To secure a place you will be required to pay a £5.00 refundable deposit for all of our training courses when booking. Upon completion of the course, this will be refunded to you in full. Any retained fees will contribute to deposit and refund processing and administration costs.

All our Training Courses need a minimum of 8 parent carers to go ahead.

Unfortunately, we have experienced a high volume of parent carers signing up for our courses and then not attending. We understand that there will be genuine reasons why you cannot attend a course, or all sessions of a course, you signed up for, but we ask that you please advise us in advance if possible as a courtesy to other parent carers who are on the waiting list, otherwise, you are preventing other parent carers getting on the course.

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the beginning of the course. Refunds within 7 days will be at Unique Ways discretion. By cancelling your place and receiving your refund, you will open up a place for another parent carer.
